Dr Wardle says in her talk "we are driven by our emotions" (at 12:34 in the video). That is not what I learned from my mother or other relatives or in school -- our emotions are the fleeting, changeable, almost unpredictable will-o-the-wisps that cannot be trusted for any serious (or even half way serious decision)! If you observe someone who has made a mess of their lives, you will usually be seeing someone who let their emotions rule their lives, rather than practical common sense. Are our schools doing a good enough job in training students to hold back from emotional responses until they have investigated the facts?

Dr Wardle seems to underestimate human intellect as if we swallow anything published.

After so much time in which advertising has been seen as the opposite of brand responsibility (and rightfully so), we would need more than university slogans to believe this will change. What proof is there for the idea that ads can boost brand responsibility? In what way exactly do they do that? Naomi Klein has convincingly shown decades ago that marketing communication actually feeds and helps cover up so many outraging instances of corporate irresponsibility.

My family arrived here by way of a three masted clipper ship, a Barq Freighter called ‘The Lausanne’ in 1840. 51 brave people, several children included! sailed out of New York Harbor, around the horn of South America over to Hawaii then into the Mouth of the Columbia River. 9 long months of sailing in both the Atlantic Pacific Oceans. I’m currently studying that voyage, called “The Great Reinforcement”. My greatX5 grandfather Louis H. Judson & his wife & 3 children are my direct ancestors.
